Hi, I’m Gabriel Willenberg and I am currently a masters student studying mechanical engineering at The Ohio State University (OSU). I am passionate about technical theatre, design, mechanical engineering, robotics, marine research and scuba diving. I have a completed bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from OSU. I am currently serving as the Assistant Technical Director for the Hilliard Arts Council. In addition, I have also worked with the OSU Department of Theatre since Fall of 2020, assisting in the construction of sets for the shows put on by the department.
During my gap year in 2018 and 2019, I spent several months living on a small island in Fiji, volunteering with Global Vision International to conduct research on the coral reefs surrounding the islands of Caqlai and Moturiki.
At OSU, I have been a member of the Underwater Robotics team (UWRT), where I worked on the mechanical sub-team designing and manufacturing the physical components of our competition robot. Additionally, I spent a year as the mechanical team lead for the UWRT middle school outreach program STEMBot. In this role, I worked on the design of curriculum as well as the program robots themselves and spent time working directly with middle schoolers in the classroom.
